The negotiations on a deal to take over MIR Trade Polska opened March last year and conducted by Bogusław Ney, CARGOSPED CEO, have been successfully brought to an end. The ceremony of signing the agreement was held on 25 February 2010 in Warsaw, before an audience of noble guests and journalists.
On the Buyer’s side, the agreement was signed by Stanisław Chrząszcz, Vice- President of the Board and Alicja Czechowska, Proxy. The Seller’s side was represented by Vasily Varennya, Chairman of the MIR Trade Polska Supervisory Board. Wojciech Balczun, CEO of the PKP CARGO group, present at the event, said that the acquisition of MIR Trade Polska is the next step on the way to strengthen the Group’s position on the Eastern border of the EU and an important element of the Group’s startegy to alter its way of functioning and transform it into a logistics operator. According to the strategy, CARGOSPED at the PKP CARGO Group will be responsible for intermodal freight transport and managing container terminals. Shifting these activities will improve effectiveness and the quality of customer relations. Mr Stanislaw Chrząszcz said that from March this year the company will be gradually taking control of container terminals, currently managed by PKP CARGO. First will be the terminal at Kobylnica near Poznań, then the one in Gliwice and successively in other locations.
